About KeepCup

How KeepCup started

It began with a simple idea; Keep it and use it again.
In 1998, siblings Jamie and Abigail Forsyth opened a café in Melbourne and saw firsthand the waste from disposable coffee cups. In 2009, they created KeepCup, a barista standard reusable cup designed to challenge convenience culture with better usability, sustainability, and design.

What makes KeepCup different?

POINT 1

Designed for coffee lovers
by coffee lovers

KeepCup was the first reusable cup designed to meet the standards of the specialty coffee industry. By supporting the needs of baristas, our cups make it easier for you to confidently choose to reuse when ordering coffee to go.

Our Barista Standard Design means every KeepCup works seamlessly behind the counter, from matching café industry sizing for a perfect pour, to fitting neatly under espresso machine group heads.

POINT 2

Designed to last a lifetime

A reusable cup is only truly sustainable when you consider its full life cycle and use. This is why KeepCup's design is carefully considered at all stages of the manufacturing process and for all life stages of the component. We choose the best material that’s fit for purpose and minimises impact with ongoing reuse.

All KeepCups are made from high-quality, food-safe materials, free from harmful chemicals like BPA, BPS, phthalates, lead, and cadmium.

POINT 3

Designed to evolve with you

To help you lengthen the life of your reusable, each KeepCup is modular and spare parts are available for individual purchase. You can replace a part that has met the test of time, or you can change the colour of your KeepCup to match your current style.

Buy once. Buy well. Reuse. Repair.

What KeepCup is up to

The first KeepCups were sold to coffee-lovers nearly ten years ago at a small, underground design market in Melbourne, Australia. Today, KeepCups are used in more than 65 countries around the world, including here in Japan.

We created Less Plastic (the official Japanese distributor of KeepCup) to help spread KeepCup's global mission to eradicate single-use cups, bringing it to cafés, stores, and coffee lovers across Japan. We partner with like-minded businesses and individuals and would love to work with you!
